Thakur, Krunal bowl Lucknow to win over Gujarat

Lucknow Super Giants registered yet another comprehensive win in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season as they beat Gujarat Titans by 33 runs at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday night.

Match Analysis

After opting to bat, Lucknow posted 163 for five in their 20 overs and in response Gujarat was bowled out for 130 in 18.5 overs. 

Earlier, Lucknow was well served by a 91 run third wicket stand between skipper KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis (58: 43b, 4x4, 2x6). Towards the end there were handy contributions from Nicholas Pooran (32 n.o.) and Ayush Badoni (20). Lucknow finished on 163 for five in their 20 overs. For Gujarat the best bowlers were Umesh Yadav (2-22) and Darshan Nalkande (2-21).

Gujarat got off to a good start as skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan posted 54 for the first wicket. But thereafter there was a collapse as Gujarat slipped to 93 for seven.

Only Rahul Tewatia held the innings together but it was not enough. In the end Gujarat was bowled out for 130 in 18.5 overs. For Lucknow the best bowlers were Yash Thakur (5-30) and Krunal Pandya (3-11).
