Rajasthan Royals snatched a narrow three wicket win over Punjab Kings at Mullanpur in Mohali on Saturday in the 27th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) contest.

Asked to bat, Punjab posted 147 for eight in their 20 overs and in response Punjab eked out a narrow win with a ball to spare to finish on 152 for seven.

Earlier, Punjab without their regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan struggled all through the innings. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

The side was reduced to 70 for five. Then Jitesh Sharma, Liam Livingstone and Ashutosh Sharma played vital cameos to help Punjab post 147 for eight in their 20 overs. For Rajasthan the best bowlers were Keshav Maharaj (2-23) and Avesh Khan (2-34).

In their response, Rajasthan went into the game without Jos Buttler and Ravichandran Ashwin. Rajasthan started cautiously with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tanush Kotian putting on 56 for the first wicket.

Then there was a collapse with Rajasthan slipping from 82 for one to 115 for five. In the end Shimron Hetmyer held his nerves as he helped chase down the target in 19.5 overs to finish on 152 for seven.

For Punjab the best bowlers were Kagiso Rabada (2-18) and stand-in skipper Sam Curran (2-25).
