MI vs RR - Rajasthan on a winning spree, Mumbai keep losing

Rajasthan Royals thumped Mumbai Indians to register their third consecutive win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season as they won by six wickets at the Wankhede stadium on Monday.

Match Summary

Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals, Match 14

Mumbai Indians 125/9 (20 ov)

Rajasthan Royals 127/4 (15.3 ov)

Result - Rajasthan Royals won by 6 wickets

Match Analysis

Asked to bat, Mumbai managed just 125 for nine, in response Rajasthan chased the target in 15.3 overs to hand Mumbai their third successive loss.

It was the worst start for Mumbai Indians with the bat as they lost Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir for ducks in the first over.

Things got worse when Dewald Brevis and Ishan Kishan got out as well and Mumbai found themselves under pressure at 20 for four. Tilak Varma (32:29b, 2x6) and captain Hardik Pandya (34:21b, 6x4) counter-attacked the Rajasthan Royals and the move seemed to work as they added 56 runs.

Their partnership couldn’t carry on for a while as Rajasthan made a strong comeback to restrict Mumbai to 125 for nine. Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal were the pick of the bowlers as they bagged three wickets each.

Rajasthan were off to a shaky start to their innings as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler were back in the hut early. But after that, Riyan Parag (54 not out:39b, 5x4, 3x6) and Ravichandran Ashwin batted well and took the game away from Mumbai.

The Ashwin-Parag duo added 40 runs before the off-spinner got out. Parag made sure that he stayed there till the end and won the game for his team. Rajasthan chased the target with six wickets and more than four overs to spare.
