Before joining the India squad, Ashwin will play a local one-day match

R Ashwin was recently observed at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, practising with a white ball in the NCA nets. Furthermore, he is set to play a 50-over match in Chennai on Tuesday in the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association's (TNCA) local league. Despite being called up to India's One-Day International team for the forthcoming three-match series against Australia, the seasoned spinner is assiduously preparing for any probable circumstances.

The VAP Trophy one-day league is presently happening in Chennai. Ashwin, 37, is due to play for Take Solution MRPA against Young Stars at the SSN College Ground. He has played 113 ODIs for India, including the triumphant 2011 World Cup campaign. He also played in a few three-day games in the local league a few weeks ago.

According to a TNCA official, "he wants to spend some time on the ground, and a 50-over game will give him that opportunity." He recently attended the NCA for routine physical care and to enhance his abilities under the supervision of spin bowling instructor Sairaj Bahutule. He is committed to prepare thoroughly for any and all situations."

During a press conference following the naming of the India squad for the Australia series, Rohit Sharma was asked if he was concerned that R Ashwin had only played two One-Day Internationals in the previous six years. In response, the captain emphasised that the experienced off-spinner's extensive expertise dispelled any concerns about his low ODI game time. Ashwin is keen to repay the captain's, selectors', and team management's faith in him. His most recent ODI appearance was against South Africa in January 2022, and he has 151 wickets in 111 ODI innings.

The team has been told to meet in Chandigarh on September 20 in preparation for the first ODI on September 22. After the game, Ashwin will have to fly to Mohali.
