Asked to bat, Punjab posted 143 for nine in their 20 overs and in response Hyderabad overhauled the target in 17.1 overs to finish on 145 for two.
Punjab started off poorly as they were reduced to 22 for three. Then a 41 run fourth wicket stand between skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Sam Curran. That revived the innings to some extent. The innings slipped from 63 for three to 78 for eight and then 88 for nine in 15 overs. Then for the final wicket Dhawan added 55 runs for the final wicket with Mohit Rathee. Dhawan remained unbeaten on 99 off 66 balls with 12 boundaries and five sixes. For Hyderabad the best bowlers were Mayank Markande (4-15), Marco Jansen (2-16) and Umran Malik (2-32).
In their response Hyderabad started off cautiously. Mayank Agarwal and Harry Brook fell soon enough. Then there was a 100 run unbroken third wicket stand between Rahul Tripathi and captain Aiden Markram. Tripathi remained unbeaten on 74 off 48 balls with 10 boundaries and three sixes. Skipper Markram remained unbeaten on 37 off 21 balls with six boundaries. Hyderabad overhauled the target in 17.1 overs to finish on 145 for two.
